The National Museum of Women in the Arts, located in Washington, D.C., brings recognition to the achievements of women artists of all periods and nationalities by exhibiting, preserving, acquiring and researching art by women, and by educating the public about their accomplishments. Friends of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, UK is part of a growing international network of affiliates that seeks to promote women’s contributions to the arts worldwide. The UK charity supports and advances women in the arts, past and present, with a connection to the United Kingdom.
Upcoming
events include a Lecture and Private Tour of Women Artists of the Tate, a tour
and talk on the women artists on the 2008 Turner Prize Short List, and, in
partnership with The British Museum and Kingston University, the 2009 London
Premiere of the Flare Films documentary Maria Sibylla Merian. Recent events have
included a breakfast and a private tour of the National Portrait Gallery’s
exhibition: Brilliant Women: 18th Century Bluestockings; ‘Paula Rego and Marco
Livingstone in Conversation’ at Marlborough Fine Art; a private tour of the
Contemporary Art Society’s ARTfutures exhibition at Bloomberg SPACE, and for
Subscribers only, an artist’s talk by photographer Elisa Sighicelli at the home
of a London art collector.
